Concordia Seminary’s Kristine Kay Hasse Memorial Library offers two annual residential research fellowships and two annual stipends for scholars and researchers whose work could benefit from the library’s special collections. The fellowships and stipends may be used to offset the expense of the residency on the campus of Concordia Seminary.
Research Fellowship
For established scholars whose research would benefit from the use of special collections materials for a project resulting in publication.
The award provides up to $1,500 toward eligible expenses in support of a residency of at least two weeks (not necessarily consecutive). Funds may be used for transportation, food, lodging and imaging of collection materials. All purchases must be documented and submitted for approval to the Director of Library Services. Private study space is available.
Two research fellowships are awarded per year.
Application Submission
The applicant should submit the following via email to Director of Library Services Dr. Paul Robinson at [email protected] using “Research Fellowship” as the subject:
- A letter of application that includes the applicant’s contact information, the title of the project, and the proposed dates and duration of the residency.
- A one-page description of the project that includes how the project will make use of special collections material.
- An updated CV.
- A confidential letter of recommendation by a scholar with knowledge of the applicant and the subject matter of the project. (The recommenders should email the letter directly to the above address.)
Deadline
There is no deadline for application submission, but money awarded must be used within the fiscal year of the proposed residency (July 1 to June 30).
